Summer adventures in Val Pusteria
Yay, summer’s here! Hiking to alpine pastures and to the mountains peaks of Val Pusteria, cycling through lush green meadows and dense forests, swimming in heated outdoor pools and beautiful mountain lakes… In and around Valdaora the warm season has a lot to offer!

Hiking

Through mountains and valleys, along blooming meadows and green forests, on narrow paths and wide forest trails, through nature parks such as Fanes-Senes-Braies, Tre Cime and Vedrette di Ries-Aurina up to the rugged mountain peaks, where you will be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of the Dolomites and the main ridge of the Alps. Pleasure hikers can enjoy pleasant walks on the local mountain of Valdaora - the Plan de Corones - as well as along impressive mountain lakes, such as the Lake Braies, the Lake Dobbiaco and the Lake Anterselva, while the bravest can take a jump into the cool water! If you prefer to go high up, the Zillertal Alps with their Three-thousand-metre peaks are the right destination for you. With culinary delicacies of the Val Pusteria, the inns and refuges on the pastures of Valdaora and Casies invite you to tasty culinary moments along your way.

Biking

The Val Pusteria offers more than 300 km of cycle paths - including the famous Pusterbike Cycle Path (from Fortezza to Lienz), which is a must for all bike lovers. But don't worry, you don't have to cover the whole route in one day. If you are tired, you and your bike can also get back by train.
Mountain bikers and adrenaline junkies can enjoy various bike tours on the Plan de Corones, Prato Piazza, at Lake Dobbiaco and in the Valle Anterselva, while the Downhill park at Plan de Corones is the ideal place for those who prefer to ride up by cable car and ride down on two wheels.

Cultural tips

The Val Pusteria has many attractions for culture lovers! A must-see is the city of Brunico with its famous "MMM Ripa" Museum on the castle hill. Afterwards, you can stroll through the main city lane with its colourful shops, small cafés and cosy restaurants. The "Lumen" Museum of Mountain Photography and the "MMM Corones" Museum (both on the Plan de Corones), the with its valuaTaufers Castle ble frescoes and the Folklore Museum in Dietenheim are also worth seeing. In the Valle Aurina you can visit the adventure mine in Predoi with its extraordinary climatic gallery, which has healing powers due to its particularly clean air.
